I was astonished at all the requests for Pierce Bush in my stats. He tops the list with 100's of searches for this month alone. I searched myself and couldn't come up with much new, other than my own report from April asking if he'd be drafted and that he'd been on Larry King again.
I had to reread my own words but didn't find much but the King bit. What a difference 4 years make. From CNN's transcript in 2002:KING: We're back with another Bush, Neil Bush. He is the brother of George and Jeb and he's a businessman in Houston, Texas. But the main reason we've asked him -- not that we don't like Neil -- is we saw earlier tonight Candy Crowley on the floor talking to this young man. He is Pierce Bush, another P. You know about George P. Bush.
Pierce is 14 years old. He's the nephew of George W. Bush. His father is Neil. And Pierce, you've kind of burst on the scene tonight.
PIERCE BUSH, GEORGE W. BUSH'S NEPHEW: Yes.
KING: You took this convention by storm.
P. BUSH: Yes.
KING: You want to be a politician, right, don't you, Pierce?
P. BUSH: I don't know. It's a long way away. I'm only 14. I'll give you a call, though. It didn't dawn on me then, I'll betcha my euro coin stash he's being groomed. King asked his dad about Pierce and this was quite a discovery, which I didn't pay much attention to in first report about him as it went into the draft itself, which is embarrassing because I kept stating he was 16 and he was actually 14.
Like any proud dad or any braggart Bush, daddy Neil heaped the praise-the-kid routine when King asked about Pierce, but I had to give him props for what I read and it's not easy because of my loathing of the Bush family:KING: Tell me a little, Pierce, about -- Neil, tell me about Pierce. Has he always been this way, upfront?
N. BUSH: Pierce has always been gifted.
KING: He's not shy.
N. BUSH: Clearly, he's not shy. He's an incredibly talented young kid. And let me tell you a personal story, Larry, which is -- kind of tell you a little bit about my business. Pierce has been in this school where, despite the fact that he's truly gifted, he's been having -- he had a lot of difficulty 6th, 7th and 8th grade. And he was diagnosed by some as ADD and that kind of thing. They tried to put him on Ritalin.
P. BUSH: I wouldn't take it. No one can dispute that wasn't cool of both of them and I can't understand why they aren't fronting a massive campaign against Ritalin. At least Pierce had the smarts to say NO. Daddy kept repeating he was gifted and wrongly diagnosed. It seems that it's either age, the school which Neil runs or influence from Unca George, but he was different at this year's convention. It's been 4 years and he's now 18. I guess it isn't odd he was on again, in fact I'd be surprised if King let this one go. So there he is, 18 now and well, he's sure not the normal 18 year old. Just wait. The following is from this year's convention. The guests were Big Papa Bush, son Marvin and of course Pierce. It began with Pierce:CNN'S LARRY KING: How do you feel?
PIERCE BUSH, GEORGE W. BUSH'S NEPHEW: I'm feeling great. It's really exciting to be here at the Republican convention. Just started out at a great school, Georgetown University. Very excited about that. It was really kinda weak. Marv talked about how Pierce came to stay for 2 to 3 days but stayed 2-3 months and wore the same shirt every day for one month to work, breaking a family record. I'm breaking up. Pierce warned him to "Keep it simple. Keep it simple." There were remarks from daddy and brother, then Pierce got the spot again:KING: Pierce, how do you feel?
P. BUSH: I feel that George W.'s done a great job the past four years. He's kept his word. And he's really fulfilled what he said he was going to do. And I think coming from a youthful man, like myself, I think kids my age respect that. And I think there's a growing movement to support George W. Bush from the younger aged kids. And I'm excited to cast my first vote for uncle George.
KING: Will you be voting?
P. BUSH: I will be voting. I'll be voting in Texas. I'm pretty sure we got that baby locked up. Still, it's going to be a huge honor to cast my first vote for my uncle George. If that isn't a case of brainwashing and mind control I don't know what is. I hope he tried to rebel against calling himself a "youthful man" and that tripe about a growing movement for his Unk from those his age. I wish there'd be a real rebel in this family, like Patti Davis when Ronnie was in office. Weird, now she and brother Ron of whom many jokes were made, are now considered credible. I remember that, she was so vicious and crazy in her attempts to embarrass dad and enrage Nancy, including posing nude for Playboy and writing nasty tell-all books.
The rest of the White House kids have been boring. Amy? Chelsea? The Fords? Tricia? Lastly, the twins. They're the only ones who have acted up got caught, but nothing big enough to generate huge scandal. Nothing will ever come of them politically speaking. Pierce, however, is a different story. He'll go into politics, no doubt about it, with an eye on the top job, making 3 generations of presidents. Gasp, what a horrid thought. Two were too many.
Pierce wound up the interview on Larry King -- yawn:P. BUSH: Yes, sir, it does. Looking at my grandfather's example, I think us Bush grandchildren have a good idea of what it means to serve others. And that doesn't necessarily mean just in the political arena. For example, my sister Lauren is doing something with the World Food Program through the U.N. And I think that's a great way to go out and serve the nation and serve the world community. And I'm very impressed with her. I think kids in our family understand that sense through my grandfather's example. Ya know, this has been anything but fun to write, but due to all the requests about him, I had to give it a shot and not much happened. This is boring.
Wait, I found something that's more like it, meaning this is muito interesante. Madisone-Zone has an article about Neil Bush's online education company but that's not what jumped in my lap:Bush cited a prime example - his own son, Pierce. Pierce has had lackluster grades, and schools have attempted to label him with attention deficit disorder. Bush said his son is extraordinarily gifted in ways school systems haven't tapped.
''I saw how the system was trying to put down our son. He has appeared on Larry King Live, and if you saw him on TV, you'd see he is an amazing speaker,'' Bush said.
Outside of school, Pierce Bush has a ravenous appetite for the family business of politics, his father said. Partly to emphasize the disconnect between performance evaluations and ability, Neil Bush made a prediction that might seem far-fetched in other families.
''I'll give you a little exclusive. Pierce Bush will be president some day if he graduates high school,'' he told The Post. Oy vey, Maria! He's already graduated. It took some time, but I got to where I hoped this would go. President some day. I knew it, I called it, and there are no words to express how flabbergasted I'd am. There can be no President Pierce Bush! I'm still not sure why so many are looking for information about him and can't help but feel I've missed something else, but on second thought, what could top daddy's "little exclusive".
yes I saw him. he looks like he should be a sophomore or junior in high school. haha- he kinda seemed dumb to me, it must be great having the Bush name to get into top institutions.
